Dear Prayer Partners,

New Believers & Consolidation

The Book of Acts says of the Early Church that, "… the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved" (Acts 2:47). Well, we're not seeing people being added daily, but God is bringing a nice flow of new people that are having personal encounters with Christ and are being added to the church.

Praise God! We are grateful to God that we can say that since our last Praise Report that several more new Believers have been added to the congregation; something that we would not have seen a few years back here in Spain and is yet to be seen in some parts of the country.

Thank God that our work in consolidating the new people has vastly improved and more new converts are becoming faithful and active in the church. We are also seeing many more of the new converts understanding their purpose and taking up the challenge to consolidate the other new Believers that are beginning to come in.

One of these new Believers is Miguel Angel (Mily) Lofredo, is one of the new men that have become to come to the services. Mily is faithfully being consolidated by my "Timothy", Jonathan Lancho.

Recent Baptisms

September 8^th we celebrated a baptismal service in a local river and were blessed to officially receive four new Believers into the church. There are about four more that have yet to complete that new members orientations and get incorporated into consolidation and discipleship cells.

Satellite Work in Mérida

For the last couple of years now we have been collaborating with a family of Believers in the city of Mérida, a city found about 45 minutes from Cáceres in the Province of Badajoz.

Raul & Elizabeth Villamil (who have also been my students in the seminary), and their six children are a beautiful and talented family that love the Lord and have decided to dedicate themselves to Him and start a new church in this city. They came to us about four months ago ask for our covering and assistance en establishing this new work. We have begun to send faithful families from our church to be with them on certain Sundays during the month.

Recently they were able to go from holding Bible studies in their house and acquire a place to rent for their services. They now have a marvelous group of about 25 adults in a congregation that has both Gypsies and Spaniards.

I am in the process of helping Raul obtain his national ministers credentials so that he might be able to freely minister here in Spain.

School of Leaders

Praise God that we have finally been able to officially begin our School of Leaders (discipleship training school) in the church and I am on my way to finally form my 12. The candidates are extremely excited and totally on board and have begun to bring forth good fruit!

Matrix Retreat

This past summer the Lord gave me what probably has been one of the most creative ideas I've ever received. It is a Reencounter (retreat) designed to graphically teach new Believers about the threats and dangers that the spiritual and moral ambience of the world pose to them and just how they can overcome them with total victory in Christ Jesus!

The retreat is based on the movie "The Matrix" and is called "The Christian and the World". The new Believers are called to make a fresh and conscientious decision for Christ near the end of the encounter by choosing between the "red pill" and the "blue pill" (jellybeans).

All of the attending youth that have gone through this re-encounter were deeply impacted, but four of them have since been baptised and are aggressively active in all aspects of the church and are eager to share their faith. They now have a very clear idea of who the Christian is and what the world really is!

Theological Seminary

I have officially accepted a teaching position at the "Spanish Theological Seminary" of the Assemblies of God of Spain located in La Carlota, Córdoba. At present am teaching a semester (32 hours) on Hermeneutics. The rest of the official staff is thrilled that I have joined them – and the truth is, I am too.

Even though it adds to my already taxed work load, it's an honor to be a part of the teaching faculty and to be a part of those that are preparing the next generation of pastors and leaders of the Body of Christ here in Spain! After all, that's a very great part of what we are all about here.

But what Gina and I are praying for is for ten new churches to pick us up and support us for $100 a month. We need at least this much increase in our support in order to consistently make ends meet every month and to reach specific ministry goals. Dear Prayer Partners,

First Things First

The first thing that I must do before I share what God has been doing here is to apologize for getting this Praise Report out a bit late. The truth is that I actually lost track of time and was under the impression that with this Praise report I would be on schedule – I was clearly quite mistaken.

New Believers

We are grateful to God that we can say that since our last Praise Report that several new Believers have been added to the congregation.

A few months back a young couple (Arturo & Daniela) came to the church after our Thursday night prayer meeting wanting to know about the church. A few nights before the Lord had manifested Himself to Arturo through a dream. God had spoken to him so clearly through this dream – whatever it was – that it has totally changed their lives (he has yet to tell me specifically about the dream but it has had great reconciliatory value).

They are faithfully feeding their new found faith with the Word of God, are an active part of a cell group and are amongst the first to arrive at all of our regular church services. Daniela has even begun to bring her sister (Lorena) and her nephew with her to the services.

Also saved in the last few months is an ex-addict named José (he is 53 years old). José has been sentenced to two years of prison and he is now serving his time there for his past crimes. We have made arrangements for him to be able to attend the services that a ministry specifically dedicated to reaching drug addicts for Christ hold in the penitentiary. He has been joyously faithful to the services and we are making the necessary preparations for us to be able to hold our own worship services there.

Before José went to serve his time, he brought his 80 year old mother to the church. Doña Ana has been beautifully touched by God and has been progressing right on target with her newly found faith in the Risen Christ (as opposed to her former faith in religious relics and saints).

Many of her relatives immediately have tried to convince her not to have anything to do with us – saying that we are some kind of "cult" (a very common accusation against evangelicals in predominantly or traditionally "Catholic" countries); but Doña Ana has proven to be quite feisty in the defense of her new found faith.

She has been telling her family and testifying in the Bible studies that her new found faith and relationship with Christ and our congregation is the most beautiful thing that she has ever experienced in her life and that nothing or no one can separate her from it.

Theological Seminaries

I recently finished teaching another semester in the Assemblies of God extension theological seminary here in Extremadura (one of three with which I collaborate) – I taught a course on "Methods of Bibliographical Investigation", in our efforts to raise the general academic level of our students and potential future ministers and pastors here in Spain (fun for me – hard on the students).

The Assemblies of God of Spain have once again approached me with the petition that I become a full member of the staff of professors. They are in a desperate need for more teachers with doctoral degrees on staff in order to get government accreditation. Even though I don't desire to be on permanent staff I have consented for them to put my name on their register of professors to present before the government because I do want the seminary to prosper and in this way, the work of the Gospel and the future extension of the Kingdom here in Spain will flourish.

Another note along this vein; In April, I was invited by the director of the Catholic seminary to share in a summit of all of the seminarians and Catholic seminary rectors in our region. They wanted me to share on the role and importance of the Bible as the absolute authority in the life of the true Believer as opposed to the Catholic stance on the authority of the traditions of the church; more fun!

Some of the priests and seminarians got a tad bit ruffled by the frank Biblical truth that I shared, but I simply told them, "Don't get miffed by what I share. You invited me so that you could hear what Evangelicals believe about the Bible – so this is what I am doing". Surprisingly enough, I have been invited to return.

Visits from Abroad

Also in April we had a group of 13 students (middle school age) from the Christian school at the Washington Christian Center in, Washington DC., for and educational and inspirational tour of Spain, Portugal and Morocco. It proved to be quite an educational and spiritually rousing event for these fine young people.

In March, we were blest to receive one of the most powerful ministerial visits we've had to date; Pastors Hugo & Yolanda Martinez, pastors of the Comunidad Cristiana Zoe de Rialto. What a tremendous blessing they were! Their three weeks of ministry here have left a definite positive mark in the progress of our congregation.

The highlight of their visit was the commanding youth encounter we had over the Resurrection Weekend. We saw the Hand of God in deliverance in a way that we had not yet seen here. Many young people were transformed, blest and deeply touched. Pastors Martinez – THANK YOU!

Dear Prayer Partners,

The Desperate Need To Reach Spain for Christ

I was cuddled up in my warm bed as the sub-zero wind howled outside when the phone rang. It was Madeleine, a French speaking convert in our church. She had been witnessing to a French speaking Muslim from Casablanca (Morocco) for several weeks now and told me that he was now in a desperate strait. It turns out that he had nowhere to stay the night and was preparing to take his chance and sleep on a park bench (he would, no doubt, not have survived the night!).

So out of my warm bed and into my van to go down to the plaza to seek this young man. I found him; a handsome and very intelligent man who speaks several languages with an ease that is found in many in this part of the world. I brought him home with me and made a great effort to warm him up and set him up in a bedroom with clean sheets and towels, fed him and gave him warm tea to drink.

With tears in his eyes, he asked me why I would do such a thing for him. This opened up the doors for me to share Christ freely with him. My new Muslim friend was amazed that Jesus would speak to him and touch him in such a profound way. This was a moment that broke through his intellect, and Jesus touched his heart.

After sharing with him for about an hour he retired to his room and slept late the next morning. When he awoke the next morning he was full of questions about Jesus. After a hearty breakfast I brought him to my basement office and gave him an "Ingil" (Arabic New Testament) and showed him several DVDs of testimonies (in Arabic) of Muslims that have experienced Christ in a powerful way and are now faithful and diligent Believers.

Nearing the end of our marvelous time together, he said to me in the simple, open way that Arabs and other Middle Eastern people have, that I had totally changed his way of thinking. He said that he was now very confused and would have to reassess his whole life and the entire way he viewed the world – especially in respects to Jesus the Christ! That he was now beginning to believe that He really could be the "Son of God"; an incredible confession for a Muslim to make!

Europe is now seriously over-run (quite intentionally, I might add) with Muslims intent on turn this into a Muslim continent. Spain is number one on the list and in a very real danger of ceasing to exist as we have known it and returning to the Islamic Caliphate that it once was 550 years ago. The only thing truly standing in the way of that happening is the aggressive efforts of those of us that are here on the front lines announcing the truly liberating Gospel of Jesus to "whosoever will".

New Believers

We have been blest to see many new converts in the last few months both young and… more experienced – that all are newly born in Christ.

As well as the many teenagers, there are a number of young adults have come to Christ in the last six months. Among them is a young man named Vlademir; an engineer and former military officer married to an influential lawyer. One of my elders shared the Gospel with him and invited him to church. He walked in alone on a Wednesday night and after the study I spent time ministering to him. He has since had a marvelous encounter with Christ! Though his 15 year old son has begun to come to our services, we continue to pray for his wife and teenage children.

Another wonderful testimony is that of Doña Vicenta. This beautiful sister is a widow who lost both her husband and her 38 year old son within one month – both died in her arms. This brought her to begin to seek God as she never had before. Having been a normal Catholic all of her life she had never really heard the truth of the Gospel before coming to one of our services. That was a year ago. Recently, she told me that she is now 77 years old and is just now learning everything new – and who Jesus really is! What a joy to see her worship God with her hands raised and tears in her eyes during the services.

She is also full of wit and good humor. When we took these photos she looked up at me and said, "Pastor, come down here!" I stooped down to hear her say, "With you standing by my side we look like 'Lee'"! "Lee?" I asked. She said, "Yeah, you're the "L" and I'm the "i". I laughed so hard that I was no good for the rest of the afternoon!

Please keep these and the many other new converts in your prayers. Though we have had many marvelous victories, there have also been some great oppositions and struggles against the church in the last few months and we have been faced with some serious problems. In spite of these trials, all have gone to strengthen and unify this young congregation even more!

Theological Seminary

I am finishing up another semester of teaching with the seminary in the Canary Islands and have begun to teach an additional class for a semester in the extension of the Assemblies of God seminary here in Extremadura (the region of Spain in which we live).

The AG seminary has asked me, several times to become a docent member of their permanent staff – which, though I am honoured, I have been extremely reluctant to do. I deeply enjoy teaching in the extensions but I don't want to move to Cordoba. I do believe that God has most definitely sent us here to Cáceres and that there are still many years of ministry for us, many souls to reach and so much work to be done so that this church should be firmly planted right here in Cáceres!

A Christmas Benediction

Well as you know, it's time for my birthday again. Last year, they had a really big party for me and it seems like they will again this year. After all they've been shopping and preparing for it for months now, and there have been announcements and advertisements almost every day about how soon it's coming!

They really do go overboard about it, but it's nice to know that at least one day of the year some people are thinking about me a little. You know, it's been many years now since they first started celebrating my birthday. Back then they seemed to realize and appreciate how much fun it is for the little children. Just the same, it seems that most folks are missing the point of it all. Like last year, for example, when my birthday came around, they threw a big party, but can you believe it? I wasn't even invited! Imagine! The guest of honor, and they forgot all about me?

Here they had begun preparing for the festivities months in advance, but when the big day came, I was left out in the cold. Well, it happened so many times in recent years, I wasn't even surprised.

Even though I wasn't invited, I thought I'd just quietly slip in anyway. So I came in and stood off to the side. Everyone was drinking, laughing and having a grand time, when all of a sudden in came this fat fellow in a bright red suit, wearing a phony white beard and shouting, "Ho, Ho, Ho!" He looked like he had more than enough to drink. When he collapsed into a big armchair, all the little children went running over to him excitedly yelling, "Santa, Santa!" I mean, you'd have thought he was the guest of honor and the whole holiday was just for him.

The little manger scene you put in the corner of your living room is really touching. It's good that people commemorate my birthday like that. Did you know that nowadays, in some countries, the authorities won't even allow manger scenes to be placed in parks, streets, or public places anymore? Not to mention their schools? I'm not talking about Communist countries. I'm talking about the good old USA. Imagine! What could be more innocent than a
manger scene to remind people of my birthday?

Yes, it is banned! They've actually passed laws against it and made it illegal. What is this world coming to?

Another thing that amazes me is how, on my birthday, instead of giving me presents, most people give gifts to each other? And to top it all off, it's usually all kinds of stuff they don't even need!

Let me ask you, wouldn't you find it odd if when your birthday came along, all your friends decided to celebrate it by giving each other presents and never gave you a thing?

Someone once told me, "Well, it's because you're not around like other people are, so how can we give you a present?" You know my answer to that one. Give gifts of food and clothing to the poor, help those who need it. Go visit the lonely. Any gift you give to your needy fellow man, I'll count as if you gave it to me personally. (See Matthew 25:34-40)

Well there is an end even to my patience. So I'm going to let you in on a secret. Now this is something I've been planning on doing for quite sometime. I'll have my own party! How about that?

It's going to be the most fantastic feast you could possibly imagine. It might not happen this year, but I'm sending out the invitations now. I know you'll want to come. There is going to be room for billions, for everyone who wants to come! Some really famous old timers and celebrities are going to be there, and I'll reserve you a seat of honor right there with them! (Matthew 8:11)

So hold on to your hat, because when everything is ready, I'm going to spring it as a big surprise. Many people are going to be left out in the cold, because they did not answer my invitation. Let me know right away if you'd like to come. I'll reserve you a place and write your name in large golden letters in my great big Guest Book!

Dear Prayer Partners,

Youth Outreach & Ministry

We are now well into our fifth year of our labor to plant a new church in this province and region of Spain. We've made a lot of advances and have had a few setbacks. We have a strong congregation of young married couples and a good children's ministry. Even though there have been many efforts to establish a solid youth ministry, until recently, we had not made much headway in this area.

Even still, a good group of the children of families that have been saved have grown and are now pre-adolescents. They have begun to bring other young people their age to church and without really much effort on our behalf a youth church has been born.

This summer we had several evangelistic concerts focused to reach the youth of our city. These concerts brought in about 60 first time visitors and at least ten new people have begun our Saturday youth services and our regular Sunday morning services.

Baptisms 2010

In September we baptized seven new converts; our largest group of new converts we have baptized at one time since we first arrived in Spain to plant new churches in 1988!

We also praise God because all seven are in discipleship and cells and are now actively involved in some ministry of the church!

Theological Seminary in the Canary Islands

The Canary Islands is one place in Spain where we have been seeing a really good move of God and where Spaniards are coming to Christ in fairly large numbers. Even though percentage wise, on these islands there a many more Evangelical churches per capita than are found on the Iberian Peninsula there is no official Evangelical theological seminary established on the islands.

For this reason we have been working to help establish a seminary on the islands so that serious minded disciples that want to prepare themselves theologically don't have to come all the way to mainland [Spain] to study. The seminary will be under the Assemblies of God (AG) for the Canary Island. I am working together with Pastor/Apostle Sergio Zubillaga; an excellent Bible teacher and pastor of a fantastic church on the island of Gran Canarias. I am really please to be collaborating with Sergio for we have a deep mutual appreciation for our distinct ministerial gifts.

I am also alternately giving extension classes for the "Centro Superior de Teología" (AG) and have been asked to be a part of their permanent staff – which offer I am weighing.

(Unknowingly) Preaching To the Whole World

About six months ago I ministered on a Sunday morning in Sergio's church in Gran Canarias. A few months later I begin to receive puzzling emails and messages via Skype and Facebook from people in different countries I have never been to telling how much I have ministered to them. I had no idea what they were talking about. It turns out that the church submitted the video of the sermon to TBN (Enlace) Madrid, and they, in turn, sent it to TBN Costa Rica and the rest is history. I don't even have a TV, so I would never have known about it.

The seven new Believers are about to partake of their first communion - or participation of the Lord's Supper. We hold that if a person doesn't have a conscience that is clear enough to be baptised, then their conscience is not clear enough to partake of the Lord's Supper.The newly baptised Believers proudly hold their Baptismal Certificates as they are received as new members of the congregation.

This Summer we had several powerful ministry evangelistic concerts focused to reach the youth of our city. These concerts have brought in about 60 first first time visitors and ten new people that have begun to attend our regular church services. Beto and Gaby are now fully committed to the Lord, happily married and actively involved in all aspects of the church. They have two sons that were born during their years that they lived together before they surrendered to Christ.

Dear Prayer Partners,

Historic Victory

At 8:30 p.m. it was 111.2º F in the streets of Cáceres! Now a little after midnight it seemed no cooler, yet it had little or no affect on the revelers. Spain had won its first World Cup victory! The entire country was celebrating; dancing in the streets, horns honking, hundreds of people jumping into the water of the artificial waterfall, river and pond in the center of our beautiful city in urbane, yet raucous festivity. It was clear that no one was going to bed early tonight.

But something else big was happening, much bigger than this and every mature true Believer in the country recognized it. Something had broken in the spiritual atmosphere of the country signaling that a great spiritual victory was also taking place in the heavenly places! We are now beginning to see its fruit!

Outpouring of the Holy Spirit

Recently, after a Men's Encounter, I took the men directly to the Sunday morning service. One of the brothers found his wife and began to pray for her to receive the baptism in the Holy Spirit as he had in the Encounter – AND SHE DID! That helped to set loose an outpouring of God's power.

Sister Gina had also preached on this very theme that morning and in that service alone five people received. After this we had a wonderful deluge of the Holy Spirit where for several weeks in just about every service people received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit – whether we prayed for them or not. In two weeks eleven more people were baptized in the Holy Spirit! We, personally, have never seen such a spontaneous outpouring here in Spain!

Naturally, this has changed our church and God has also begun to purify and purge the Church of impure and rebellious elements and this has brought a tremendously liberating atmosphere over the congregation! Our worship services, prayer meetings, cell groups, youth ministry and Bible studies are flowing with a much greater power and freedom.

New Converts

About three years ago I began to visit and minister to a young professional musician named Carlos Alberto (Beto) that had recently moved to Cáceres from Switzerland with his live-in girlfriend. I discovered that his parents were Christians but he was deeply enslaved to sin. He was however open to let me visit him to talk about the condition of his lost soul... when I could catch him. For often he would avoid me for months at a time.

Other new Believers in the church that knew him also began to "hunt him down" and try to minister to him. Finally, about six months ago, he finally gave his life to Christ in complete and broken surrender. Both he and his wife Gabriela (Gaby) are in discipleship (under me) and are sincerely "on fire" for God desiring to serve God wholeheartedly! He and Gaby were married in March in a civil wedding officiated by her uncle – who is the consul to Spain of their native country.

Beto has dedicated all of his time and talent to serve the Lord in the church. As I said, he is actively involved in a discipleship cell group and is collaborating heavily with our youth ministry leaders. Because of his fruit he has been allowed to join the worship team and has also formed a youth worship band teaching the young people how to play various musical instruments. The entire church praises God for His work in their lives.

¡Despierta (Wake Up) Cáceres!

This month we had our most successful Miraculous Catch yet! It was an evangelistic outreach orchestrated by the youth ministry. They entitled it, "¡Despierta, Cáceres!" (Wake Up, Caceres – Ephesians 5:14). It involved a full on Rock concert with lights, smoke, guitars, rappers and choreography – and short evangelistic sermon.

I just wanted to sit and enjoy seeing them minister, but the young people love how I rock on the guitar so our youth leaders "begged" for me to play in the concert with them. Over 100 were present with over 30 first time visitors! Eight of those new people – adults and young people – happily returned Sunday for our morning service!

God is doing so much more here, but out time is out: But NONE of this would be possible without your support. But the burden to see fulfilled what God has called us to do here consumes us. Spain must be won for Christ and this church must be established and founded so that she might fulfil God's purpose for her in the Earth! Trip to the USA

In February and March Gina and I made our yearly trip to visit some of our supporting churches in the USA and right off the bat, we want to thank the pastors and churches that so graciously hosted us. We were blest to have ministered (and to have been ministered to) in Atlanta, GA, Chattanooga, TN, Irondale, AL, as well as Los Angeles, Corona, Rialto, Whittier and San Diego, California. We also had the rare privilege to have been able to be with all of our children and our nine grandchildren.

Once again, Bishop Johnson, Pastor Ammons, Pastor McClure, Pastor Esquer, Pastor Ed, Pastor Tony, Pastor Hugo and Pastor Richard, thank you very much for hosting and supporting us during this trip.

Growth In Cells and Church

True discipleship can be a slow process, but it is never without fruit. Even though our progress and transition to become an effectively functioning cell church has been slow, and I have yet to see the desired quantity of faithful leaders raised up from the many new converts the Lord has given us. However, we are seeing ever increasing and encouraging signs of growth.

Friday evenings I have begun a cell in which both the subject matter and the way we carry out the studies are specifically geared for university students. We have begun by covering the Genesis account of the creation to the flood. This is a combination small group and virtual study in which the participants must have their laptops. During the course of the study I email them documents, videos and photographs that illustrate and clarify the points I'm making.

Many of the students are finishing their Masters Degrees, but two (Jonathan and Alejandro) are beginning their doctoral studies in economy. Alejandro, has been coming since the very first study – he had never been to a Bible study before and the Gospel is brand new to him. His heart is so tender to the Word of God and we believe that he will be born again very soon.

Another interesting point is that Alejandro lives in Badajoz (about 45 minutes to an hour from here). Yet he is an active participant in every study, visually and audibly, live, via the Internet, reading Scriptures and portions of the outlines that I send to all when it's his turn to read, asking questions and praying with us. Using "Skype" on his laptop, he is just as involved as if he was physically present.

Theological Seminary in the Canary Islands

Did you know that the Canary Islands are NOT named after the birds? The name is likely derived from the Latin term Insula Canaria, meaning "Island of the Dogs", a name applied originally only to Gran Canaria. It is speculated that the so called dogs were actually a species of Monk Seals ("sea dog" in Latin), critically endangered and no longer present in the Canary Islands.

About two weeks ago I received a call from the superintendent (president) of the Assemblies of God of the Canary Islands – an old friend of mine – inviting me to come and spend a week giving a special, intense course on a critical overview of both the Old and New Testaments in their theological seminary. The credits the students earn will go towards their Masters degree. After the course I will be sharing in some churches on the Island. So I leave Monday the third of May, for a week of teaching there.

Gina and I get invitations to minister all the time from all over the world, and we absolutely love the fulfilment of this part of the Great Commission to, "... Go throughout the whole world and preach the gospel to all people" (Mark 16:15 GNB). This would be impossible without your support. December 2009 – January 2010.

We just wanted to send a Praise Update to let you know of a few more (of the many) things that God is doing here and of some important upcoming events.

Miraculous Catch – An Evangelistic Event

Peter and the disciples had been fishing all night and caught nothing – that is until Jesus came on the scene and indicated where they should cast the net. We refer to the abundance of their catch as “The Miraculous Catch”. We here in Spain we really need a “Miraculous Catch” in a harvest of the souls of men.

In an attempt to attain this end we celebrated an event in which we invited a Christian musician named Alan Villatoro and his band. Alan is a Latin Grammy nominee for the Christian music category. We had from 150 – 160 people in attendance in our sanctuary (which seats about 120). About 45 first time visitors came to the event and many new contacts were made. Along with the new contacts, our biggest visible fruit has been the deeper encouragement and totally new experience that has been an incredible blessing to the many new Believers in our congregation.
.
It turns out that we should have called it a “The Miraculous Seed Sowing Session”. This is Spain and even though we have yet to see an abundance of the fruit of the harvest, we are seeing fruit and we are working very hard to make sure that our fruit remains (John 15:16). The day is coming when we WILL SEE a “Miraculous Catch”.

First Wedding of New Converts

.
A little over three years ago Freddy and Dabeyba, a young [unmarried] couple came to Christ. Both are lawyers who came to Spain from their native Bolivia for financial reasons. We met them shortly after their arrival and invited them to the church. They came and stayed.
.
Dabeyba was the first to respond to the call of the Holy Spirit and surrender to Christ. A year later I was able to lead Freddy to Christ. After hearing (and understanding) the demands of the Gospel and the call of Christ, they knew that their 12 year, live-in relationship had to be rectified. So I moved them from a consolidation cell to become faithful in one of the small marriage and family life cells that we have for correct orientation as to just what marriage, true love and family really are.
.
Being foreigners there was a terrible amount of bureaucracy, paper work and waiting in order for them to be legally married here in Spain. But finally all was completed and on December 19, 2009, I was able to perform the first marriage ceremony of new converts in our new church.
.
About 30 very well-to-do non Christian Spaniards, friends and business associates of the young couple, were present at the wedding and stayed for the reception that was also held in our church. For these beautiful Spaniards it was their very first time they had ever entered what they refer to as a “Protestant” church. They were all very happy and comfortable and were made to feel totally welcome and warmly expressed how impressed they were with the entire event.

On the right is a photo of Gina and I with Jorge and Sonia. A lovely new couple that, about six months ago, along with their four daughters have become an integral part of our congregation and actively participate in our discipleship and family life cells. The Christian concert and wedding were extremely encourageing and faith building experiences for their whole family. They, and others like them, are learning that life in Christ is what life is really all about!

Even for many of the faithful members of the congregation, it was the very first time they had ever been to an Evangelical Christian wedding. Remember, a majority of our congregation is made up of new Believers. This wedding has proven to be a tremendous witness to the community and our investment of discipleship in this lovely couple is proving to be an even greater testimony to the professional community here in our city as they shine the light of Christ in their family and daily lives.

Trip To The USA

February 28 we will be ministering in Atlanta, Georgia, in the Atlanta Metropolitan Cathedral, where Bishop Flynn A. Johnson is the senior pastor.

March 7 we will be ministering in the San Francisco Christian Center, where Bishop Donald E. Green is the senior pastor.
.
March 14 we will be ministering at Zoe Christian Fellowship Whittier, Pastor Ed Smith, in Whittier, CA.
.
March 21 we will be at the Comunidad Cristiana Zoe de Rialto Pastors Hugo & Yolanda Martinez in Rialto, CA.
.
March 28 we will be at the New Creation Fellowship, Pastors Richard & Jacci Stewart in Los Angeles, CA.
.
We have other events and places that we will be visiting and ministering but these are the dates of our main Sunday services during our visit to the States.
.
March 30 we return home to Spain where immediately begin our pre-encounter for our Men’s Encounter that we will be having with two other cell based churches in this part of the country.

Please Keep Us in Your Prayers

Brothers and Sisters please know that without your earnest and constant prayer and support we would be severely crippled. God has been blessing us so much in our work out here, but these blessings have not come without corresponding challenges. Some of our needs have been so great that they threaten to become burdensome – and I am committed to cast all of my burdens upon the Lord. Two of my favorite Scriptures are, “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” (1 Peter 5:7) and “Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” (Philippians 4:6).

None the less, just like Moses needed Aaron and Hur to help him hold up his arms in Exodus 17:10-13, I really need your help to hold our arms up. But as the psalmist said, “I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more.” (Psalm 71:14).

Dear Prayer Partners,

We send our love and greetings from Cáceres, Spain, and we want to take this time to wish you all a very Merry Christmas! May Jesus be lifted up and worshipped as you celebrate Him this Christmas season.

God is moving in the hearts and lives of people here, and every day we see the Holy Spirit at work! We wish you could be here to see how your prayers and support are having an impact on specific people’s lives!

Consolidation/Discipleship Cells

Gina has a consolidation cell that meets Saturday night that is growing and showing promise of multiplication. Her twelve new or fairly new Believers are eagerly receiving the foundational studies series I’ve written or put together in booklets.
.
We have other cells during the week that focus on marriage, family and other areas of discipleship as well as the normal weekly Bible study that I hold on Wednesday evening.

Children and Youth Ministries

Our children and youth ministries have grown wonderfully in the last few months! It seems that children attract more children and youth attract more youth. We now have the largest elementary and Jr. high school ministry in the region of Extremadura.
.
Several new families have come to the church and their children have absolutely loved the church and continue to bring their classmates and friends. There are even some adults that no longer come to our services, but their children arrive faithfully by themselves!

.
Some of these children have been in the church for four or five years and are now 13 or 14 years old. They have begun to attract an exciting group of the school mates and are bringing them to the services. They are also forming their own worship group; several of these kids are students in the conservatory of music. In a couple of years we are going to have a rockin’ worship group in the church!

Jesús Picón, also a Spaniard, has also recently come to Christ, but is another case all together. Delivered from a life of drug selling and abuse and pimping, Jesús has an insatiable hunger for Christ and his Word and is becoming an excellent disciple. Though he yet has many problems to resolve in his life, if I had a dozen like him and Jonathan I could invade Hell to populate heaven!

The Holy Spirit in Action

On one of my recent visits to the sick in the hospital, as I was praying for and ministering to a member of our congregations, I noticed that the other man in his room – in the bed next to his - had fixed his gaze on me. So I approached him and began to talk to him about the Saviour and the eternal state of his soul.
.
We conversed briefly and I asked him a few pointed questions about his soul’s state and his life as lived before God. With tears in his eyes, he recognized his need for Christ and he asked for me to pray for him. I shared a bit more, we prayed and I left him with some Gospel literature.
.
As I was leaving the hospital, I saw a family that had visited our church a few years before in the hospital. After greeting them I was informed that they were visiting a family member that was in the last hours of his life. It turned out that this relative was in the same room as the member of our congregation; the very same man I had just ministered to.
.
Incredulously, they asked me just how I had had a conversation with him, for he had not been able to speak or communicate in any way for four days! I later learned that he died very shortly after my visit.

Theological Seminary

We just finished the semester finals at the theological seminary and the greatest challenge in giving the classes was trying to tighten the academic screws of the students. Some say that I can be a demanding teacher… and I think that’s a good thing. But at the seminary we’ve been trying to find the balance between requiring academic excellence and not discouraging those who might not be that fine tuned [academically] but have a heart to prepare themselves to serve God in a country the greatly needs laborers in her vineyard.
.
There are some very good men and women that I have been blest to be able to invest in their lives with the gift of teaching that God has given me. Like I said in our last letter; the teaching is the “fun part”; the rest is normal teacher stuff: grading papers, reading reports, etc…

Prince and Gina’s Praise Report from Spain

June - September 2009

Greetings in Jesus’ Name! Sorry, but I am a bit behind in getting out this praise report. I simply lost track of the time.

Consolidation/Discipleship Cells

Since our last communication we have been given over wholly to the task of consolidating the new Believers that God has brought us. We are doing this by way of what we call, “Consolidation Cells”. This is how we perform our very first steps in discipleship. These are small groups (and as much as possible, one-on-one) teaching sessions on the rudiments of the Christian life.

This is an important time where we invest quality time in the lives of these precious souls and these cells are bringing us the true fruit of the Lord’s harvest. These new Believers will be our leaders and key people in the not-too-distant future.

To the right and below are photos of a fantastic new couple; Jorge & Sonia and their daughters. Jorge was saved in our Men's Encounter and has since brought his wife to Christ. They have four lovely daughters, the oldest of which is now an active part of our group of preadolescence. All are really excited about their new lives in Christ, the church services and cell meetings.

Below is a photo of Freddy and Dabeyba. They are both lawyers that have been saved under our ministry here. They are now activly involved in all aspects and are progressing tremendously in our discipleship cells. They have a five year old daughter named Camilla (that can almost be seen in the photo).

Children’s Ministries

This is another area where we need a lot of ministry growth, but where we are also progressing. Being that the Lord has brought us so many young families, we have close to 40 children in our children’s church!

This might sound like good news (and it is) but just about all of the people in our church are new Christians – many have come within the last two years! This means we really don’t have many experienced workers for our Children’s ministries. Also, many of those children are now entering into preadolescence. It is vital that we effectively minister to them as they enter into the minefield of their teenage years. Thank God that one of the older Believers has stepped forward to take part in this all important ministry.

Our First Men’s Encounter (Retreat)

In July we had our first men’s encounter. A total of twenty men were in attendance. I let two men who I’ve been discipleing organize the event and saw, once again, just how great God really is. The retreat was an organizational disaster, but yet the Spirit of God worked so impressively that the six non-Christian men that we invited to come all had a powerful encounter with Christ. If God doesn’t build the house ... (Psalm 127:1). As is proper, these men are being duly consolidated and a few are beginning to bring forth really good fruit!

.
One fairly new young man named Elmer, who, along with his wife, gave their lives to Christ close to two years ago and has finally begun to bring forth good fruit via our consolidation/discipleship cells, was present. In the middle of the first night we received an emergency phone call notifying us that his father unexpectedly died and he had to leave early. None the less, Sunday morning he was present in the service and during praise and worship took his son to the front of the church and began to dance in praise before the Lord! The truest worship is often found in the midst of our deepest pain.

Baptisms 2009

In early September we celebrated another baptismal service and two new Believers, Yesenia and Claudia, completed their first stage of discipleship and were baptised. The river was so shallow that we had to kneel in the water so that I could immerse them. It’s beautiful to see people silently weeping as they are being baptised!

Theological Seminary Professorate

I absolutely love teaching in a Bible school or Seminary context; but the burden and passion of my heart is church planting, discipleship and pastoring. I have been offered many teaching positions, but none have been compatible with what I’m called to do here in Cáceres… that is until now.
.
The Assemblies of God of Spain has asked me to become a part of their teaching staff for the Centro Superior de Teología de las Asamblea de Dios* (CESTAD), extension courses. I love it, I get the best of both worlds; the courses are intense and taught in modules. I get to stay in Cáceres and the students come in every two weeks from all over Extremadura, for four hours of concentrated teaching, exams and further assignments.

The teaching is the “fun part”; the rest is normal teacher stuff: grading papers, reading reports, etc…
.

August turned out, financially, to be the most difficult month we’ve seen in close to 20 years. In our 33 years on the field, we’ve had some months where our money has really been funny and our change extremely strange. So to say that August was a historically bad month financially is quite a statement. September wasn’t as notably horrific, but it was far from being recuperative. None-the-less, God is faithful and always has been! We simply mention our financial needs so that you might be kept aware of our needs and keep us in prayer.

Dear Prayer Partners,

Testimony of a New Believer

One of the new, solid Believers in our congregation is Yesenia Weston (photo below). Her father is British and her mother is Spanish but she was born in Peru.

.
Recently we proclaimed a day of fasting for healing and to combat the spirit of infirmity that had attacked members of our congregation and our loved ones. We set the fast for a day when one of our key sisters was to have a cancerous kidney removed. While there have been many marvellous testimonies about the work of the Holy Spirit in the congregation because of the fast, Yesenia’s testimony is of special interest.

Before the day of the fast she discovered that an aunt, in Peru, was ill and had fallen into a coma. She had been trying to communicate her new found faith to her family, but to no avail. During the fast, she dedicated her time in prayer to the healing needs of the congregation and her family.
.
In the middle of the night the overwhelming presence of God woke her up; a totally new experience for her. At first she was startled and didn’t know what it was, but she was at peace and wasn’t afraid. As The Presence increased, she understood that it was the Spirit of God, so she got up and continued to pray.
.
Two days later she received a phone call from her family in Peru that her aunt had come out of her coma the day before and was totally alert and talking to everyone about God! She said that Yesenia had come to visit her, sat beside her and spoke to her about the love of God. She was told that God was going to heal her and that she should wake up. She woke up the next day as if from a normal night’s sleep; Healed!

Our First Encounter (Retreat)

In April during the Easter Week vacation we were able to hold our first encounter… actually it was a combination regular encounter and marriage encounter. It was totally successful and has produced a lot of good fruit! To help us with this event I invited a couple of our disciples from San Diego, California; Pastors Hector and Ruth Esquer. Together with Gina and me, Hector and Ruth ministered marvellously and the new disciples of our congregation were moved to tears and repentance in areas that they hadn’t previously opened to Christ. Afterwards they stayed and ministered for two week in our regular church services.

Ministry Travels

In March Gina and I traveled to the USA to visit a couple of the churches that generously support our ministry. The highlight of the trip was the visit to our home church, Word of Faith Church, in Kennewick, Washington. We had the privilege to meet our new pastors, Ryan and Natalie Graves, and enjoy some of the richest and fruitful fellowship with them that we have had in a long time. It had been four long years since we had been there, so while there we shared in several services and special teaching sessions.
.
Our brief stateside trip also took us to California where we spent a few days ministering in San Diego, in the Spanish speaking congregation of Pastor Hector Esquer as well as spent a bit of quality time with Pastor Ed Smith of Zoe Christian Fellowship of Whittier and Pastor Richard Stewart of New Creation Fellowship in Los Angeles.

Cell Meetings

We praise God for our cells are growing in number and size. Soon we will start our second School of Leaders and with far more experience and maturity it is clear that the congregation will produce far more fruit than the first school of leaders gave us.
.
We praise God for another generation of new Believers that is being discipled in our cell groups is in preparation for baptism this summer.

Musicians in the Church

One of the things that tend to happen in a church planting situation is that the first generation of converts is not musicians. If they are, they are so new that they are not ready to be placed in a position of leadership such as a worship leader should be. So I usually end up being the preacher and worship leader for several years before a good team of competent psalmists can be raised up.

.
There are some other very good musicians that come frequently to our services, but they're still heathens. They love our songs, like they way I play and enjoy our services, but I’ve made it clear that they have to get “good saved” in order to be a part of the worship group.

.
In our congregation, we have raised up a worship group; but right now I am the only one that plays an instrument. Praise God that many of the families that have been saved now have their children in the conservatory of music and these kids are excited that one day they will be a part of the worship group to play for God’s glory!
.
Having said this, I must mention a major need that I have. My guitars are over 25 years old and are in dire need of repairs and technical work. Quite frankly, even though I take excellent care of them, they’re falling apart! I’ve put a lot of miles on them. I desperately need some new guitars (I now have two – an Ovation acoustic and a Spanish classical). Please pray about helping me buy these much needed tools and help us continued our effective service on the mission field.

November 2008 - February 2009 Praise Report

Dear Prayer Partners,

I’m so sorry that I am behind schedule in getting out my praise report. As normal, we are kept quite busy, but actually, for this, I just lost track of time.

Foundation of Sand

In our many years of the mission field, we have planted around twenty new churches. But this has been a different experience for us. First of all, normally, there are no other churches in the areas we select to plant a new work. Cáceres, though largely under evangelized, does have other churches near by. The second, and more directly influential distinctive factor, is the fact that this church is built on the ruins of a failed ministry prior to our coming.

.
We took the church because pastors from all over the country requested for us to come and help repair the breach that had been made by a ghastly scandal (that cause bad waves almost nationwide in the media).
.
Even though the church we have planted here is an entire new and unaffiliated work, seven or eight survivors from the old church are part of our church. They brought with them a great need for healing and almost thirty thousand dollars (ouch!) worth of debt incurred by the former pastor (who is now serving an eight year prison sentence – double ouch!). That ministry was built on a foundation of sand.
.
We took responsibility of said debt in order to clear the testimony of the Gospel in this area. Because the debt wasn’t ours, we were able to negotiate it down to about twenty three thousand dollars (€17,000). Last August, we were able to completely liquidate that 17,000 euro debt and we were able to do it in just three years. This we did while keeping solvent on all of our own church’s financial obligations. This has really helped to restore the credibility of the testimony of the Gospel in our region of the country.

The Contrasting Maturity of the Congregation

I know of a surety that money is not the measure of all things, but just so that you can see what God has done, I share this: In January (2009), some friends of ours in Madrid, pastors of a church there, suffered a terrible tragedy. A fire in their flat took the life of their four year old daughter and destroyed every thing the owned.
.
I gathered the elders, the secretary and treasurer of the church and asked them how we could help this family financially. I really had no idea of how we were doing financially (I figure that if we have problems, they’ll let me know). They told me that the very next day we could send them €1,000 and have absolutely no problems in fulfilling our monthly financial obligations (which total to about €2,500)! Praise God!
.
Last November, I approached the elders of the church and requested that the congregation begin to take the first step in our financial support as their pastors. They gladly agreed and since then have begun to pay my Social Security taxes – a big help to us. Eventually, as the church grows and matures, they will begin to take a larger role in contribution to our financial support. This will be the first time ever that a church that we have planted on the mission field has taken aggressive steps to support us financially.
.
With the church, we’ve come a long way and we’ve yet quite a way to go. But, none the less, this is the beginning of just one way that Christ is building His church on a foundation of rock.

Buying Church Property

I believe that even though the World’s in Crisis – We Are in Christ! So we have taken another step: In another recent reunion with my elders I talked to them about stewardship and the ultimate vanity of renting property for the church.

.
As a result I talked to our landlord about selling the property we have been renting to us via a “rent with option to buy” contract. He has agreed to this and, after negotiation, offered to sale it to us for an excellent price.
.
Our deal is that we will sign a contract to continue to pay an agreed amount of rent that will actually go towards a 30% down payment on the building. When we have the 30% paid (in about four years), then we go to the bank about a loan to buy the property. Today, the banks here won’t give you the time of day. But, by that time, whatever trauma the world banking systems are going through now should be resolved… if not; we’ve simply paid rent that we would be paying anyway. Not a bad deal.
.
Our goal is to have the property bought 100% by money directly from the congregation with little or no foreign donations. Your support is to go completely just to keep us on the field.

Cell Meetings

The cell church format of our church continues to develop, howbeit slowly. But we are seeing growth in the people that we have been discipling. Some people that have been on the nebulous fringe are beginning to get more involved and serious with their faith. We are yet a long way off from being called a cell church, but we are growing.

Tent Making

The little business that we were miraculously able to start in December has slowly but surely making headway. Even though now it is only paying its own way and we’re not “making a living” off of it, it has been extremely profitable in giving us far greater exposure to and recognition by the general public.
.
All of the Believers and the other pastors in the region are very happy that we have opened the business. With the exception of a few missionaries, every single one of them also has to hold a job to make ends meet. In all, it’s a blessing, and with all of the new people that are becoming our friends, it is proving to be well worth it. As of this date, we have close to 650 new card holding video club members. We now have the film “Bella” and will soon have “Fireproof”. It’s another way to get the Gospel out to the unreached!

Greetings in Jesus' Name!

Baptizing New Believers

In September we were able to celebrate another baptismal service. We have no baptismal facilities in our church building so these celebrations take place in nearby rivers. Normally we baptize in a river with a gentle but fairly swift current – a nice experience. This year the river was wide, somewhat muddy and very slow moving and full of leaches! It was still nice; it’s just that no one lingered in the water to praise God – we did that on the shore.

Since we arrived in Cáceres we have baptised and discipled many new Believers. We are blessed to know that our fruit in these precious souls remains according to the command of our Lord in John 15:16.

Recently I received this beautiful note on our blogsite from a young man that we won to Christ and baptised many years ago. I have not seen him for about 15 years. This is a translation of his note: “Hi, Prince. I am so glad to have been able to find you once again. I just want to express my appreciation to you because you were the first [person] to tell me about the Gospel. I want you to know that I am still following the Lord and am involved in His work, especially in sharing with my neighbors. I left Daimiel some time ago and now live in Azuqueca de Henares (near Madrid), in Guadalajara - Victor”.

Change of Our Spanish Residency Status

Gina and I have been on the mission field for well over three decades and have served in a number of countries. Years ago, when we served in Mexico, it was illegal to be a missionary there. It was also illegal to be a missionary when we first moved to Spain in the late 1980’s and the Evangelical church wasn’t legally recognized by the Spanish government. That all changed in 1992 with the new Spanish constitution.

Even though we were legally recognized as “Protestant” missionaries here, we were extremely restricted in the activities in which we could engage. The restrictions were such that if we engaged in activities that were not directly church related, we could have lost our residence status.

One of the conditions of our residence is that we have to pay Social Security here (between Gina and me about 400 euros a month – we also have to pay Social Security in the USA). Well, our financial situation has been so precarious that we haven’t been able to make Gina’s Social Security payments. So recently when we went to renew our residency permits, they rejected Gina’s permit because of our inability to pay her monthly Social Security taxes. We have appealed and are waiting for their answer.

Fortunately they changed a clause in the status of our residence now giving us permission to work and hold a regular job here in Spain as well as serve as recognized ministers of the Gospel. The government has decided that if the Catholic priests and nuns can do this (and they do) then so could we!

Tent Making

Even though the Apostle Paul had the financial support of the Philippians (Philippians 4:10-19), he had to make tents to supplement his income (Acts 18:3). The economic crisis that has shaken the USA has also terribly shaken Spain. This has affected us to the point that we have found it necessary for Gina to take up a night job in order to supplement our income. Gina works from 10:00 p.m. until 9:30 a.m. taking care of an elderly couple. She is free to minister to the needs of the congregation and to have her cell meetings during the day and early evening.

We have also decided to supplement our income by opening up a small business here. We are opening up a Disney store & video club called “Bluster Videos”. This store is part of a franchise. The store will give us tremendous exposure in a community in which we are already very well known and liked.

We have been praying for an inroad to the youth of this city and there is a high school right across the street from us and three vocational schools (high school & junior college levels) within 300 yards of the store. Hundreds of young people pass by the store every day!

We took out some bank loans to open the store, so please pray for our success and prosperity – not just for our financial prosperity, but also for the power and presence of our Christian witness. For as we prosper, so too does the forwarding of the work of the Gospel here in Spain. Our grand opening will be December 4th.

Pray For Our Granddaughter Kaila

A little over a month ago we received the distressing news that our granddaughter, Kaila, our daughter Lupe’s oldest daughter, was diagnosed with leukemia. So please pray with us for her complete healing and the complete cancellation of this sickness. She is now in chemotherapy and the doctors are very positive that they were able to catch it at a good time and that she will completely recover. (Psalms 124:8) “Our help is in the name of the LORD, who made heaven and earth”.

Greetings in Jesus’ Name!

Apostolic Ministry in Mexico

In April I returned to Mexico to minister in a couple of the churches that we planted close to 25 years ago. At that time the region was virgin territory with no Evangelical witness for hundreds of kilometers in any direction. What an experience it was to return two decades later to see the entire region filled with the Gospel. I can now say, as did the Apostle Paul in Romans 15:19, “I have trailblazed a preaching of the Message of Jesus”, (The Message).

I had the privilege to dedicate the brand new sanctuary of the mother church in Tecpan, and believers that we had led to Christ years ago traveled from every part of the region to be in the services – as a matter of fact, some came all the way from Mexico City.
.
I not only ministered in the special services that week in Tecpan but taught in special leadership sessions both there and in Tetitlán at another one of the many churches that are fruit of our labor there. I can also say, like the Apostle John in 3 John 1:4, “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth”.

Fruit in Cáceres

Even though one of our greatest challenges has been consistent and effective consolidation of the new Believers, we have had many new converts in Cáceres that are starting to bring forth good fruit. Here are a couple of examples of the testimonies:

Gabriel and Sabina Watcher (Pictured here on the left) are a beautiful young, very well educated couple originally from Argentina that has come to Christ in the last few months and are now in discipleship along with several other precious new Believers that are beginning to bring forth fruit (Sabina is a lawyer).

Cáceres is a university city and we have also had fruit in our student ministry. These students are not only from all over Spain, but from all over the world! Now ministering to these university students is like ministering on a military base, they come and go, but some of these have powerful experiences with Christ and return to their countries with totally transformed lives.

.
A marvelous example is that of Emily Hawkins, an exchange student from the USA (Pictured below on the left with Max). She had come to the church a few times but just to check things out. Another student, Max Lees, from Cardiff, England, had been sharing the Gospel with her at school and brought her to my house one night so that I might answer a few questions that she had and share the Word more deeply with her. I spoke to her for about an hour and the Spirit of God manifested itself by totally breaking through to her and saving her with an absolutely astonishing experience!

Ministry of Literature Evangelism

Some time back God brought Roberto and Lu, a precious young couple, to the church. Roberto is a graphic artist and printer and a natural evangelist. On his own, he began to print Gospel tracts and distribute them house to house in his neighborhood.

Seeing his ardent desire and natural burden, we laid

hands on him and commissioned him as director of evangelism for the church. He and I got together and wrote three very colorful evangelistic tracts with short, but clear and concise salvation messages and information about the church.
.
At the left is a sample copy of one of our tracts. Roberto has made a data base of over six thousand email addresses in Cáceres and every week he is sending out Gospel literature and invitations to the church. We have some of what we send out translated in Porguese, Frence and English.
.
He has formed evangelistic teams that go out every Saturday to distribute these excellent tracts. Roberto had a map of our city made and displayed in the sanctuary with pins indicating all of the streets that have been covered.

We plan on SATURATING the city with literature proclaiming the Gospel’s salvation message of hope and the love of God. It is encouraging to see the teams of people that gather to spread the Good News of Christ taking this literature house to house until every home has been reached… and then we will start all over again! We will see this city and Spain won to Christ!

Praying For Spain

Every Thursday evening we have a prayer meeting in the church. The last two months have seen this meeting grow into an exciting celebration and about 25 or more people show up to intercede for the needs and the needy. (Our average Sunday attendance is about 100). We are extremely encouraged by this and have taken it to be a sure sign of spiritual growth in these new Believers.

.
One thing I must constantly remind Believers in America is that fact that Europe is largely unevangelized. Spain is still at the top of the list of countries with a Christian population of less than 1%. Even the population of confessing Catholics is shockingly very small here – practicing Catholics even smaller still.

.
There are yet 13 million people that have NEVER heard the Gospel here in Spain and thousands of towns and villages have absolutely NO Gospel witness. The average healthy Evangelical church here has about 50 Believers present on Sunday mornings. PLEASE PRAY FOR SPAIN!

Grandparents Again

On May 6, our daughter Lupe and her husband Joan had their second child; a girl they named Karen Joana de Jesús Parker. She was our sixth grandchild. Tuesday, July 15, our daughter Jasmine and her husband Jeramy celebrated the birth of their third child. A healthy boy named Jordan Elijah Hampton; and that makes seven!

Rapidly Changing Situations

Someone said that inflation is the ability to cut money in half without damaging the paper. Well, that's certainly been true for us. I know that the present recession has hit us all very hard. Here on the mission field, due to the severe devaluation of the US dollar and the alarming inflation rate (for example: gasoline is now $9.45 a gallon) as well as other factors, our income has drastically been reduced.

You, our faithful supporters, are doing and excellent job of helping to keep us effectively on the field. Unless God tells you something different, we can hardly ask more of you other than that you please continue your faithful support.

But what we direly need now are new supporters. We are praying for ten NEW churches to receive us as their supported missionaries for at least $200 a month. If you know of other churches that would be open to our ministry, could please you pass our names to them?

Ministry In Spain

This is a little production our beloved sister, Christina Corson, did while she was here during her, all-too-brief stay with us to do her short term missionary training with us.

Prince and Gina’s Praise Report

January - April 2008

Dear Prayer Partners,

We praise God for how the work has been growing numerically and in maturity this year. Slowly but surely we are seeing more consistence in the number of people coming to our weekly prayer meetings, Bible studies and Sunday morning services.

Prayer Team Visit

In February, Ambassadors Fellowship brought a small team of intercessors to spend an entire week in intercession and prayer for us, our congregation, the city of Cáceres and the nation of Spain! These teams have come almost every year now and the lingering results have always been awesome.

Romantic Outreach In February

Gina is one of the only people I know that has an anointed culinary ministry! God has used her so much in many different countries to reach souls through her gift of gastronomy! Her gifts are used just about every month in the church to raise funds that have rescued our congregation from several economically distressing challenges we’ve faced.

So in February, once again, we made use of her very important ministry gift and we had a coat and tie, romantic outreach dinner complete with live romantic serenades for couples. We used the sanctuary of the church for the site of the dinner and drew up and well designed invitation for this evangelistic occasion. Before we ended the evening I shared a fifteen minute meditation on the true [Biblical] meaning and example of romance, love and marriage.

We had about fifty five people in attendance and there were ten new people amongst them. Of those ten, two have since become active and faithful members of the congregation. Praise God!

Ministry in Japan

In March we, once again, received an invitation from fellow career missionary, Bishop James Whitaker, of Okinawa, Japan, to go and minister in their annual missions conference. We feel that it’s always a privilege to go anywhere in the world to minister the Gospel, but Gina and I have a special place in our hearts for the country of Japan. Many missionaries call Japan the Spain of the East because our spiritual conditions, number of Evangelical Believers and situations are so parallel.

Given that, this particular congregation in Okinawa consists primarily of Americans serving in the armed forces. We were blest to get the opportunity to encourage our men and women in uniform to continue to embrace and walk and grow in their faith in Christ. We have a profound love and appreciation for the Japanese Believers in that beautiful country, and to be able to minister to them (and with them) and to encourage them in Christ as well is just an awesome opportunity. Our time there was rewarded by seeing the ministry of The Holy Spirit in operation.

Visiting Ministries

A Vineyard church in Seville (about three hours away) has taken it upon themselves to cleave to us as a sister church. So several times they have visited us in our Sunday morning services with as many as 16 members of their congregation.

Recently they visited us with fourteen Vineyard Pastors from the east coast of the United States. They ministered the Word and shared testimonies and songs of worship and praise. Afterwards they prayed for members of our congregation ministering in healing and prophetic words.

City Wide Week Long Prayer Meeting

A few months ago I got together with the other pastors of the city together and arranged a week of prayer for the state of the family in our city. Also present at the meeting was my friend, Miguel Angel, the Catholic priest. We arranged for prayer to be held for one evening in each of the Evangelical churches as well as one evening in the Catholic church; a total of six nights of united prayer for the families of our city.

Miguel Angel informed the Catholic Bishop of the prayer meetings and the Bishop ordered him to make a full color brochure announcing the meetings. He had a featured photo of Gina and me in a prominent place on the flyer in representation of the Evangelical pastors. The Bishop then ordered that the flyers be distributed in all of the Catholic churches and promoted as a “must attend” event.

The Bishop came to one of the evenings of prayer and spent the entire time praying with Gina and me. We had about 150 gathered in our church for evening prayer and worship and praise and about a bit less than half of those in attendance were Catholics! Now what I want you to understand is, that this is something that we have never been seen in Spain before! Just a few years ago being an Evangelical pastor meant jail time!

Now, frequently when I walk down the street, older Spanish men and women warmly greet me and recognize me as the “Evangelical Pastor” that their priests approve of and recommend! What a blessing! Let me tell you, that even if you don’t fully agree with someone, it is FAR BETTER to have friends than enemies and it has really facilitated our effective Christian witness here! Just about my whole life has been dedicated to reaching Catholics for Christ and this is really helping me do it!

Tecpan de Galeana, Guerrero, Mexico

April 29th, I will be traveling back to Mexico for a week of ministry for the first time in many years. Our church there, “Centro de Nueva Vida”, is now 23 years old and has just finished the construction of a, sorely needed, new sanctuary. They have asked us, as the founding fathers and apostles of the work there, to come and dedicate and to give a series of leadership conferences.

We also want to keep you aware that the declining health of the dollar has severely affected our financial support. It has gone down more than 35% since the beginning of the year and has presented quite a financial challenge for us. We really need the prayerful financial support that you, so lovingly, give to our ministry. We would also like to encourage those that have not given to our ministry before to please pray about financially supporting our efforts to reach Spain for Christ.

The Man That Did Not Come Back From the Dead

Luke 16:16-31

Introduction: Before you come to the wrong conclusion, please read the entire study. If you choose not to believe the Scriptures, you will believe anything but the truth. (II Tesalonicenses 2:7-12).

“A man that stands for nothing will fall for anything!” (Malcolm X)

I.) The entire Bible speaks emphatically of the great truth of the resurrection of the dead. The Sadducees, even though they claimed to believe Scripture, did not believe that the Torah spoke of the resurrection. But Christ rebuked them for their ignorance (Matthew 22:23-32) (Luke 20:37-38). (Matthew 22:29) "Jesus answered and said unto them, “Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God”.”.

.
A.) We can find mention of the resurrection in the Old Testament in Job 19:25-27.
.

II.) Christ taught that He and His resurrection from the dead are found in all of the Scriptures (Luke 24:25-27).

.
III.) Let’s observe the importance of the testimony of the rich man and Lazarus:
.

A.) This particular begins in Luke 14:1; it is actually a conversation with a group of covetous Pharisees. Christ wanted to clearly manifest the difference between the priorities of God and the perverted priorities of man. This is His theme. He ended his sermon in Luke 17:10. Those that rejected His message simply proved their egotism and greed (Luke 16:14) “And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him”.

1.) Luke 14:1-6; the sermon begins with: The healing of a man on the Sabbath… This shows us God’s priority.
2.) Luke 14:7-11; the first seats – It is more important that you know that God sees you before man does.
4.) Luke 14:12-14; Do not invite your friends and those that can pay you back – Do not seek the favor or recognition of men.
5.) Luke 14:15-24: Those that did not accept the call to the King’s banquet – Nothing is more important than what God has called us to do and any excuse is ridiculous and worthless.
6.) Luke 14:25-33: Self denial – Our own lives are not more important than what God desires of us.
7.) Luke 14:34-35: Salt and light – if we deviate from God’s purpose y priority for our lives we contaminate ourselves (the only way salt can lose its savor) and we obscure the light of God in us – in doing so we are stealing from God.

1.) Luke 15:1-2: Publicans and sinners – the lost – came to Christ.
2.) Luke 15:3-7: The lost sheep.

4.) Luke 15:11-32: The lost son.

C.) Luke 16:1-31: The summary of His message, “For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Matthew 16:26).

1.) Luke 16:1-13: The unfaithful steward – The true purpose of material goods and riches – win the lost for the kingdom of God.
2.) Luke 16:14-18: The Word of God shall never fail and its truth and purposes are eternal – it can never be annulled.
3.) Luke 16:16-31: The rich man and Lazarus – a sub point of the results of scued priorities and riches without Christ. His main point – If you choose not to believe the Scriptures, you will believe anything but the truth.

IV.) The rich man and Lazarus: Luke 16:19-31.

A.) Introduction: Before God, there is no difference between the two, they both had the same chance at life “(21) There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: (20) And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, (21) And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores”.

B.) As it happened with them, it is appointed to all men (see Hebrews 9:27): “And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;”

C.) In the place of the dead there is consciousness and recognition – the most horrid torment “And in hell he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. (24) And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. (25) But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. (26) And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.”.

D.) Even though he yet is ignorant of the absolute indispensability of believeing the Word of God, the rich man finally begins to understand and appreciate God’s purposes and priorities – thet we must reach the lost for, as Hebrews 9:27 says, there is coming a day of reckoning! (See John 5:21-29) (Luke 16:27-28) “Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: (28) For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment”.

E.) Lazarus was not permitted to return from the dead, at that time, because they had enough evidence to believe. Christ was saying to the religious unbelievers that were before Him that the Scriptures testified of Him and if they did not relieve the Scriptures, how were they going to relieve Him? (See Juan 5:39) – (Luke 16: 29-31) “Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. (30) And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. (31) And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead”.

1.) Here Christ is quoting Abraham when he says, basically, the same thing that He told His disciples on the road to Emmaus in Luke 24:25-27: “Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: (26) Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? (27) And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself”.

Conclusion: Christ was saying that all of the Scriptures (Moses and the Prophets) spoke of Him and His resurrection from the dead to overcome the Devil and destroy the curses that reign of humanity. To do this His sacrifice and death was necessary – But He did not remain dead! Being the Spotless Lamb of God, death did not have dominion over Him. (Hebrews 9:14) “How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?.”

(1 Peter 1:18-19) “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; (19) But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:”.

What is now required of every man is to Believe the Word of God as it says in Romans 10:5-11, “For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them. (6) But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:) (7) Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.) (8) But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; (9) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. (10) For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (11) For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.”

Greetings from Spain!

Being that this is Black History Month I thought that I'd share a few informative links about prolific African Americans.

It's worth thinking about that out of a population of 35 million; I am almost one of the less than 200 career African American missionaries sent out from the USA. I've been somewhat of a pioneer in my field of calling and frequently I've been the first African American that many people have ever met - how many more times have I been the first African American missionary that people have met. This is true to such an extent that I've been asked more than once, "You mean to tell me that there are Black Christians in America?" It would be funny... if it wasn't true.

Anyway, I pray that these links are both informative and edifying.

Merry Christmas and greetings In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!

Dear Prayer Partners,

We are always busy, but we’ve been extra busy the last couple of months because we’ve moved into our brand new Ministry Centre! But before I get to that I want to share some exciting testimonies.

Miraculous Healing

A little over a month ago I received a distressing phone call from Pedro and Maria, a family of our congregation. Pedro’s brother, a (57 year old) non believer, had just suffered a massive heart attack. When I arrived at the hospital the man had been resuscitated after having been clinically dead for twenty minutes. They informed the family that even though they were able to revive him, it was to no avail; that he, most surely, was severely brain damaged and was in a deep comatose state.

God spoke a word of faith into my heart and I spoke it to them. “Fear not. Only believe. Lazarus was dead for four days and Jesus raised him up and Lazarus was NOT brain damaged when Jesus healed him! This man was in his coma for two and a half weeks with the doctors giving worse prognostications every day. But God had clearly spoken to me so I continued to repeat the words of faith to them and to all who spoke of the incident.

Well, Praise God! This man woke up from his coma and began to speak and clearly answer every question asked him by the doctors and his family. Two days later he was released from the hospital and sent home healed! He is yet very weak and still can’t get around on his own, but he’s alive and totally mentally competent. We believe God for his complete recovery.

Please pray for the Spaniards! These can be a very hard people to evangelize. The entire hospital staff and all of Pedro and Maria’s non Christian family recognize this as an obvious miracle from God, yet none have surrendered their lives to Him. Such is the people with whom we have to do. Religion can kill true faith and endanger the soul quicker than anything else!

University Professor

The international directors of the university through which I finally received my theological and ministerial doctorate (La Universidad Para Las Naciones – The Christian University for the Nations) called me via a multinational conference call - from California, Texas, Mexico and Guatemala – to ask – or rather urge me to accept a staff teaching position with them. (Quite an elaborate call set up - never had one like that before).

It wouldn’t do to share here all of the tremendously encouraging words they gave me and how my gift of teaching could be used in a far greater way by further preparing the leadership of the Spanish church on their Madrid campus. They also ask if I would be willing to invest in their missionary endeavors amongst the Spanish speaking Pastors in Canary Islands, England, Switzerland, Guinea Equatorial (Africa).

In this position I would teach those actively involved in ministry in the masters and doctorate degree programs. I give intense week long seminars and monitor the rest of their assigned work and progress “on-line”. At this point this is not a salaried position but for ministry and missions. (Most of the pastors we serve are economically disadvantaged). Right now, in Europe, they guarantee that my expenses would be covered and possibly some type of honorarium. In Africa I will probably have to cover all of my own expenses (with your help of course). I really enjoy teaching in an academic environment. I also praise God that this blessing in no wise interferes with our ministry here in Cáceres.

Ministry Centre

Our move into the Ministry centre has occasioned our greatest monthly operating costs to date. We have practically depleted all of the finances we had set aside for these expenses.

We moved in about a month ago. Unlike construction in the USA, here they turn the buildings over to you without kitchen facilities or lighting fixtures and many other common necessities. Most of the Spaniards just take them out and put in what they want anyway so construction companies just quit putting them in. So we’ve been very busy getting the place up to acceptable living and occupancy conditions. Along with the expense of the moving company, we’ve also had to do all of the set up contracts with the electric, gas, water, telephone and internet companies. We’ve had to put closets in the bedrooms and floors in my office and the multipurpose room and many other details; all in all quite an expensive endeavor.

Praise God! We now have adequate living space for ourselves, our missionary trainees, guest ministers (or ministries); room for cell meetings or even medium sized church gatherings. There is still so much more to be done – but then again, that’s true about everything here!

Visiting Ministries

Right off the bat we began to fulfill one of the basic purposes for the centre, to house and host our many visitors and guests. Three days after we moved in we had our first guest (we weren’t even unpacked or adequately set up yet). For two weeks we hosted three servants of God while they ministered in our church as well as this province and region of Spain.

Some months back I began to make plans for a couple of city wide evangelistic music concerts. I was able to invite some friends of mine who are internationally known evangelists in the Spanish speaking world: Marcelo Patrono, a musician/evangelist from Argentina and Alejandro and Pamela Alonso anointed psalmists from Calvary Chapel in Southern California.

We had our first event November 16th with Marcelo with about 120 in attendance and our second event November 30 with Alejandro y Pamela with more than 200 in attendance. Even though Spain is slow to let you see the fruit of your labor, we praise God for the large number new people that were present and that responded to the invitations.

In conclusion, we just want to bring our financial situation to your prayerful attention. This year the dollar has been fighting a losing battle with the euro and our support has been down. This is the lowest we’ve seen the dollar since 1992. Just to give you an idea of how things are: Milk is over $5.00 a gallon and gasoline is more than $7.50 a gallon.

July – September 2007

Dear Prayer Partners,

May God’s peace and joy be with you all! It seems like I just unpacked from out last trip to the USA, but it’s actually been almost six months of Spirit filled activity since we were last Stateside. So as Gina and I pack our bags once again in preparation for a missions conference in Southern California we have a bit of time to reflect on all that God has been doing here in Cáceres.

Praying In The Street

The other day I was in my study preparing Bible studies and my Sunday sermon outlines when I heard the horrible screech of car tires and a crash followed by a woman’s loud cries…clearly not the signal of something good. I rushed outside and found a car in the middle of a crosswalk with a smashed windshield and damaged grill. I also saw a woman bloodied and prone in the street about fifteen yards away. I rushed to her side and, to my utter dismay, found that she was clearly in shock and at least six months pregnant. The screams were those of a witness.

Kneeling in the street as a crowd gathered, I began to pray while checking to stop any hemorrhaging I could. Men in the neighborhood kept a clear circle around me as I prayed for her and comforted her soul with God’s Word. What pleasantly surprised me was that the people of our neighborhood supported me in my efforts!

Later I found her in the hospital and discovered that she was a Rumanian immigrant named Felicia. The glorious miracle that even the hospital staff commented on was that they found NO BROKEN BONES AND HER BABY IS PERFECTLY FINE!!! Praise God!

Personal Invitation From The Catholic Bishop

I recently received a phone call from Miguel Angel, the Catholic priest who has befriended us. It was to inform me that the Dioceses of Cáceres-Coria was to ordain a new bishop and he wanted to personally invite and meet with us. I notified the other Evangelical pastors and missionaries in the area and took them with me to the event.

When we approached the 1000 year old cathedral, in the [more than] 2500 years old section of our beautiful city, one of the bishop’s entourage recognized me and hailed me by saying, “Sir, you’re the Protestant priest aren’t you?” Understanding what he meant to say I acknowledged in the affirmative. He separated me from the crowd and directed me to enter the path set apart for the bishop’s grand entrance. I had to explain that I was accompanied by my wife and other ministers that should also be allowed to enter with me.

We were seated in a special section along with the city dignitaries and in front of the TV cameras and the multitude of Catholic faithful. The Bishop publicly gave us a warm welcome and called us his friends.

Now I don’t need a Catholic bishop to feel my worth; that comes from my identification in Christ. But what it did no was to open the doors of the hearts of the people to whom we desire to reach for Christ in this city! Hundreds of people we see and greet everyday on the streets are beginning to cast aside their apprehensions and open their hearts to receive us – thus opening the door of their hearts to receive the life changing message of the Gospel (John 13:20).

Summer Crusade

In July, a short term missions group from Zoe Christian Fellowship of Whittier came for a week to do street evangelism. The team was a true blessing as more than a thousand people received Gospel literature and many more saw the street presentations of the Gospel!

As a result of the contacts made we have had several new families and individuals come to the church. Last week we baptized two new converts and there are others in preparation for baptism as they confirm their confessions of faith. Photos of the even are found on our blogsite.

These are photos of the Zoe - Antioch Missions short term team, lead by Minister Tony Dunn, sharing the Gospel on the streets of Cáceres while crowds of Spaniards listen and receive Gospel literature.

We praise God for the work that His Holy Spirit is doing in the hearts of the Spaniards. This is such a tremendous change from the spiritual condition of the country 20 years ago. We are not yet seeing revival or a massive spiritual awakening, but we believe with all of our hearts that it IS coming!

Cell (or Life) Groups

One of the greatest challenges for many churches is the consolidation of new Believers and first time visitors. We too have had to really tighten up our efforts to consolidate all of the new people that the Lord brings our way. The best way for us to do this is to train and commission cell group leaders and launch new life groups. In the last few months we have been able to launch our first such groups. We praise God for we are seeing fruit of these consolidation and discipleship tools. I also thank God for those who have taken our discipleship efforts to hearts and have accepted the call to commission to reach other souls for Christ and His Kingdom. At present we have five active and successful life groups.

Ministerial Center

We finally received the call from the bank to go and sign the final paperwork to receive the keys to the new Ministerial Centre! We would have signed the papers last week but we have made arrangements to do so upon our return from the United States.

Once we get the keys we still have numerous important details to fix and install before we can move in. Here they don’t give you your flats or houses with the kitchen, bathroom utilities or other details installed. Anything that people might change according to their own tastes they just let you do it from the beginning. This means that we are going to have to spend about 15,000 euros to condition the house and install at least the most basic elements before we can move in. Some of this we have been able to save up in anticipation and some we will just add to the mortgage loan.

So Praise God, after almost three years we will be able to move in by late early November!

Prince & Gina’s Praise Report from Spain

April – June 2007

Dear Prayer Partners,

Greetings in the lovely name of Jesus! The last three months have been filled with trans-Atlantic flights as we made three scheduled trips to minister in various parts of the USA.

The Benefits of Making Disciples

As you know, the church here is yet in the toddler stage of development. None the less, there are still times that Gina and I have to travel abroad. The only way that we can do this is by developing strong and faithful disciples that can carry the responsibilities of this work (at this stage, temporarily), until we return.

So when Gina and I had to return to the USA for a series of services in March and April we chose six of our twelve to be in charge of the Sunday services and midweek Bible studies. To help them out, I wrote up a series of sermons and Bible studies that they were to give in my absence. They were nervous but eager and ready to step up to the challenge. They actually did a great job!

Ministry in California

Several pastors that support our ministry were very gracious to open their doors for us to share the Word of God with their congregations. Bishop Frank Stewart of “Zoe Christian Fellowship of Los Angeles” invited us to share in all three Sunday services March 25th. April 1st, Pastor Richard Stewart of “New Creation Fellowship” (of Los Angeles) invited us to share in both Sunday morning services.

April 13th we had the marvellous opportunity to minister in a Spanish speaking church, “Zoe Christian Fellowship of Rialto”. The marvel is that this couple is fruit of our ministry from 10 years ago when we were on furlough and serving at “Zoe of Whittier”. April 8th Pastors Hector and Ruth Esquer, of “Iglesia Visión Cristiana” in San Diego hosted us when we shared the Word with that beautiful family of Believers. Hector and Ruth are also long-time disciples of ours. We ended our time in California April 15th in San Francisco at the San Francisco Christian Center pastored by Bishop Donald E. Green.

We want to thank all of these pastors as well as our friend and Pastor, Ed Smith of Zoe of Whittier, for their hospitality and loving support of our ministry and the time that we could spend with them.

Cell Church Conference in Atlanta

We were back home in Spain in our own pulpit for two weeks (not enough time for me to recover fully from my jet lag) when we had to return to the USA; this time to Atlanta, GA. In response to an invitation from Bishop Flynn Johnson, pastor of the Atlanta Metropolitan Cathedral, in Atlanta, GA, to share in a G12 cell church conference that he was holding for that region of the country. It was Gina’s first time sharing in English Internationally and she did a fantastic job sharing on consolidation.

The keynote speakers in the conference were Bishop Johnson, Pastor Bray Sibley of the Harvest World Outreach Ministries, in Hammond, LA, and yours truly. It was a great privilege to share the conference with these great ministers of the Word, but apart from that, the worship in Bishop Johnson’s church is absolutely, outrageously out of the world! I told them that one worship service like that in Europe would transform the continent forever!

The Pentagon and Grandkids

I had just returned from our trip to Atlanta when I received a letter from a general at the Pentagon notifying me that they wanted me to attend a special promotion and honors ceremony to be held for my daughter Jasmine. I wasn’t going to miss that for anything! So I was able to be home for two more weeks and then hop back on a plan to cross the Atlantic for the third time in two and a half months. You’ll just have to forgive me when I say I was puffed up and spread out like a peacock to se my daughter honored by so many high ranking officials as she received her (far-ahead-of-her-time) promotion.

For ministry purposes, Gina didn’t accompany me on this trip; she stayed to preach that Sunday. So I was able to spend about four days with Jasmine and her lovely family. That means that I got my grandkids ALL TO MYSELF!!! Gina usually sweeps them away and it’s all Grandma, Grandma! But this time it was all about, “Grandpa, Grandpa!!!” Ha, ha!

A True Sign of Growth

While at the Pentagon Jasmine shared with me about the four stages of forming a team: (1) Forming: the vision is born and shared. (2) Conforming: the team members struggle to try to assimilate the vision of the leader. (3) Storming: conflicts and difficulties evolve as the team members see challenges and have difficulties digesting the leader’s vision. (4) Norming: conflicts are resolved as the team members begin to sincerely understand and incorporate the vision of the leader and start getting on board with the vision seeing it as a normal way of doing things.

Now I felt really good when I heard that. For if the strategic and logistical heads of the most disciplined military in the world see this and a natural part of team formation, OUR PROGRESS AND CHALLENGES HAVE BEEN NORMAL! The good thing about it is that now, we are finally coming into the Norming part of our team development and are beginning to see fruit!

Some of the leaders that we have been training have finally begun to open up evangelistic and consolidation “cells” (Life Groups) and are excited about it. They have begun to embrace the same vision that I have been striving to inculcate in them. We are finally beginning to GROW as we should and the church is showing favourable signs of true progress!

Dear Prayer Partners,

Greetings in the lovely name of Jesus! God has been doing so much that I’m challenged to see if I can summarize His multiple marvels.

Just to start of, to the right is a recent photo of Gina and me with our son Jason and his lovely new wife Julia. They both love the Lord and are in leadership training in their church in preparation for full time ministry. They are in hopes to return to the serve with us on the mission field. Their long range ministry goals are to serve as missionaries in Australia.

Preaching to a Nation

In the last three months we have had several quite unintentional opportunities to minister the Gospel to countless thousands. In January I received a call from a popular radio station chain that I assumed was local. They asked if I would be willing to do a live telephone interview that afternoon. Now I trust the media about as much as I trust a junkie with my wallet. None the less, after I asked a few investigative questions, I consented to do the interview and, as a result, was given a wonderful opportunity to speak freely about our Lord Jesus Christ and the Word of God.

A few days later I received a call from a pastor in Madrid who told me that he had been getting excited phone calls from people all over telling him about a pastor from Cáceres named Prince that had testified openly about Christ, glorifying God and exalting the Bible as the Word of God on the radio! This never happens on a secular program here in Spain! It turns out, to my surprise, that the interview was a live NATIONAL broadcast!!! I continued to receive calls and comments about it for several weeks.

Preaching to a Province

Shortly afterwards, I was contacted by a couple of Catholic priests that wanted to interview me on the church’s provincial wide pre-recorded TV program. Once again, my experience tells me that this is usually a terrible idea, for absolutely horrible things have been done here to faithful pastors in these mass media editing rooms. To add to the risk they did not even offer a basic script of the questions that were to be asked. But after consulting with another priest who is a trusted friend, I consented. I requested to be accompanied by Brother Alfonso López, a Spaniard and one of the “12 elders” of my church.

I praise God for the wisdom, favor and grace that the Lord gave me during that interview, for the Priest interviewing us did try to throw some terribly polemical questions that could have mired the opportunity for effective Evangelical testimony. I don’t even remember the answers I gave at that time, but the testimonies are still coming in from Christians and non Christians alike of how God had brilliantly diffused a potentially negative situation (which is what the host wanted) and turned it into a beautiful opportunity to minister the love of Jesus. It turns out that the response to the interview was so positive that they have repeated the program several times in the last few months! It has proven to be a favourable boon for the public opinion and acceptance of our church and ministry here.

Progress of the Church

We have a very interesting church planting situation Western Europe today. The demographic makeup has changed drastically in the last ten years by immigrants coming in from all over the world (including Eastern European countries) looking to start a new life. Many of those that come are at least somewhat familiar with the Gospel and are not afraid to come to our services. This has helped church growth tremendously in Spain, Portugal, France and England and has given a stronger Christian presence and witness.

It has been a blessing in uncountable ways. But it also comes with it own unique set of challenges. (1) We often have to deal with a floating population almost like pastoring a church on a military base. We have a lot of people that come and go because they have come for the money and follow the money. (2) Many times you are dealing with the more financially indigent and unstable. Even for those that come with professional studies and careers; it still takes years for them to get grounded and able to work themselves up to the living standards that native Spaniards enjoy.

Not withstanding, God is working in such a way that He is slowly but surely adding to the church those that have been saved or deeply touched here and are now firmly and totally committed both to Christ and our church. They are also becoming Spanish citizens in order to cement their place in our church and this city.

One big advantage is that the immigrants have a lot more children than the average Spaniard. Many of these children are born and raised under the life changing influence of the Gospel in our church. In a few short years these children will be church leaders, university students and strong influences in our community and Spanish society at large. So in a way that we have never had before, we have the opportunity to truly change the course and future of this nation by our faithful investments in these precious lives today!

A Personal Goal Reached

I’ve had a personal goal to finish my formal education since… well, since forever. But with our busy ministry, travels, family, lack of finances and life in general, I’d not been able to complete this goal. I’ve been studying for years with an on-line course here and an extension classroom course there and still I was far short of my goal… I’m not getting any younger, mind you! Last year I was awarded an Honorary Doctorate (Doctor of Ministry – D.Min) for my endeavors during 30 plus years of service on the mission field and ministerial accomplishments for which I am very grateful. But even though I have worked very hard to be able to earn that title, I really wanted my earned academic doctorate.

This year, after years of work, I’ve finally been able to reach my long sought after goal. My doctoral thesis has been accepted and even though I graduate in October, in Madrid, and I have a few more sessions (almost mere formalities and details) I now officially have my title of Doctor of Divinity.

Finally - Thank You and Please Keep Us In Your Prayers!

Not too long ago I was contacted by a national periodical (‘El País’) for an interview. They sent a reporter all the way from Madrid to come to one of our services here in Cáceres and then to personally interview me for an important piece that they were doing on the Spanish government’s talk about terminating their 8 billion euro a year financial support of the Catholic Church. Being that Cáceres is the poorest province in the nation, they wanted to know why the Catholics need the government’s help if 97% of Spaniards are Catholic. How do Evangelicals support their pastors and churches here without government help? That was when I told them of just how indispensable YOUR financial support is to our ministry and the work of God. God was glorified and this reporter marveled at the unity and determination of true Christian Believers who financially support the vision to spread the Gospel to the entire world. YOU are a vital part of our labors for the expansion of the Kingdom of God here in Spain and WE THANK YOU!!!

Ministerial Center Update!

Dear Prayer Partners,

As with just about any construction project, we began to encounter a number of expenses that were not in our original financial plans. Some of these extra expenses were totally unexpected, others were probable or fairly predictable logistical expenses that we had hoped to avoid. In all, these extra expenses summed up to a Saddam sized financial noose around our necks (I know, I know... I just couldn't resist).

Some of the extra expenses we are encountering are the need to furnish the new centre. Right now we are renting two flats: one is completely furnished and the other is semi-furnished. When we occupy the new centre we will need to buy: a refrigerator, a washing machine, and several beds and other furnishings as well as have the cabinets built for the kitchen. (The townhouses come without an integrated kitchen because most Spaniards just tear them out and build new ones anyway). Other expenses involve the logistics of just moving in and getting settled. Because of these things we could get nickeld and dimed to the tone of a several of thousand euros.

As the time approaches for the completion of the construction of the Ministerial Centre, we have had to make major (although hopefully temporary) changes in our plans. We have downsized the project from two townhouses to one. Even though our housing needs call for two townhouses, right now our finances will only permit one.

Our economic support fluctuated wildly during 2006 leaving us far short of our expected financial goals for the project. Along with that, the dollar has gotten beaten up more than Rocky Balboa and has weakened even more against the euro.

Because of the cut back, we will have to utilize the large basement in the townhouse to build two more bedrooms to meet our present housing needs. I was hoping to be a bit less crowded, but we praise God for everything that we do have. (I was going to use the basement as a multipurpose room for meetings and Bible studies but God will work it out with what we have). We also consider it good stewardship for the support that you are so faithfully giving. Considering that we have to live somewhere, it is far better for us to buy property that will be used for many years in the work of God than to throw God’s money away by simply renting.

We want to thank you all for the sacrificial financial support that we have faithfully received, but we must make it plain that we really need your continued support. The Ministerial Centre is not a luxury, but is actually supplying a vital housing need for our ministry here.

First Minuet - An Open Door

One of our great joys in sharing Christ on the mission field is to be able to share the Word of God in valuable situations and places that do not normally present themselves. Gina and I had been praying for God to open the doors for me to be able to get into the public schools and actually teach the Word of God. I’m not talking about “guerrilla” or “drive-by” evangelism, but actually getting into the classrooms to calmly and intentionally teach about Jesus Christ, the Son of God (as opposed to just slipping it in).

One such opportunity recently presented itself via a Catholic priest. A friend of mine named Miguel Angel Morán. Rev. Morán called me about six weeks ago and asked if I would be willing to go to a school and teach a course on the Bible. He gave me six different days to teach and I was allowed to clearly and openly teach four different grade levels about the deity of Jesus Christ and the Word of God! It was really beautiful to see the interest those kids, ages 12-16, had. They asked some very good questions and positively responded to the presentation of the gospel.

Second Minuet - Church-Planting Team

The church planting team here in Cáceres consists principally of young people from other countries in training for a life on the foreign mission field as well as dedicated locals. The young people in our “Missionary Discipleship Training School”, apart from being formed for a life of career foreign missions, actually have to develop and take charge of particular ministry obligations in the local congregation under our leadership.

For example: Stephanie (Stess) Cain came to us a little over a year ago with extensive children’s ministry experience and a great burden to win children for Christ. So Stess is using her experience and training to establish our children’s ministry. We praise God for her for she is doing an excellent job in developing a team of eight workers with a like burden for children and in forming our Children’s church. We now have more than 30 children coming to our services that are being ministered to under her able ministry and leadership in this department.

Stess is also an accomplished and experienced musician (violin) and vocalist has become a vital part our worship team.

Third Minuet - Teresa (Tere) Salomé

Teresa Salomé is one of our most faithful converts and disciples from our work in Mexico 21 years ago who now pastors a thriving church in Guerrero, Mexico.

Five months ago Tere contacted us stating that she needed to spend a few months with us for further discipleship and spiritual renewal. So three months ago she joined our church planting team as a temporary member and has proven to be such a tremendous blessing! She claims that she has really been blest by her stay here, but truly we have gained far more from her stay with us. She has been of incredible edification to those in discipleship training and to the church body as a whole.

Tere is actually just one of our many Mexican spiritual children that we are planning to bring to further their discipleship and to help with the work her-e by joining as short term members of our church planting team.

Together with a couple of other pastors in Mexico, with whom we have worked for about 30 years now, we plan to have from two to three workers-in-training a year come from Mexico and spend from three to six months with us for further discipleship and to help us as part of our church planting team.

Fourth Minuet - Progress of the New Congregation

We have really felt God’s grace and divine hand in helping us plant this church. We have found one of our biggest weaknesses to be in the area of consolidation. Miraculously we are growing despite our weakness and setbacks; but we know that we could do so much more if we could fortify our deficiencies. We have gone through periods of attendance fluctuations but for the last two months have been averaging about 110 people in our Sunday services.

For several months now a young man named Fredy, his wife Debyba and their daughter have been fairly regular in our services. After one such service Fredy and I had a long talk about his soul and He tearfully and joyfully gave his life to Christ as he began to understand the gospel. They are being faithfully consolidated and we will soon begin to disciple them. I recently discovered that both Fredy and Debyba are lawyers from Bolivia.

A couple of our most faithful disciples here, Alfonso and Angela López, are our first graduates from our school of leaders and will launch their first home cell group in January with Fredy and Debyba as members.

Fifth Minuet- Thank You!

Gina and I praise God for you and we thank you for your prayers and financial support of our ministry. Please keep us in your prayers for both our physical and spiritual wellbeing. Our present financial needs are especially strong now as we have much work to do in order to move into and set our new Ministry Centre in order. Many extra expenses (and a few unexpected ones) are involved. So please keep this in mind and believe God with us for an increase in our monthly offerings in order to effectively accomplish our entrusted labor.

Dear Prayer Partners,

There is a Scripture that has been sounding an echo in my heart for the last couple of months and I have been sharing it with those whom I am discipleing; it says, “In all labor there is profit, but the talk of the lips tendeth only to destitution.” (Proverbs 14:23).

To us this has been a proclamation of faith that stands together with Paul’s exhortation of encouragement in 1 Corinthians 15:58, where he says, “Wherefore, my beloved brothers, you be firm, immovable, abounding in the work of the Lord always, knowing that your labor is not without fruit in the Lord.” With such tremendous promises, of a surety we know that all of our labor will result in God’s perfect will being done here in Cáceres.

Trying to Learn Chinese – The Value of One

I’ve mentioned before that our congregation is quite international with people that have been saved not only from other parts of Europe, but different parts of Latin America, French and English speaking Africa and Asia. The challenge of winning these precious souls and consolidating them is to be able to reach each and every individual by relating effectively to their distinct cultural mindset. I truly believe in the value of “one” – that we must do all we can to reach that one single soul. Your esteem for the value of one is actually a reflection of your self esteem; for after all, even if you are a twin, there is just one of you; and you are valuable.

Lee, is a new Brother from Macau, China. He speaks very little English and even less Spanish but has shown a tremendous love for God and a desire to walk with God since he came to us. Late one night recently I was praying with him because of some burdens on his heart and he began to share his story with me. This humble and simple young man has a scary testimony deliverance from involvement in the dark underworld of vice and mob activity, but has now come to Christ in a very real way.

His hunger for God is so evident that I now do all of my congregational sermon outlines and devotional handouts Spanish and Chinese… actually just I do one in Chinese for Him. So, I’m really taking a crash course in Chinese. I don’t think that I’m going to get it to the point that I really know where I’m going with that tongue, but everybody else, including Lee, seems to be impressed with my ability to understand and forage my way through it (I’m actually faking my way through most of it, but he’s happy as a kid in a candy shop with it all and I am recognizing more and more written characters. It’s such a beautiful and illustrious language!).

I am spending quality time with this precious new Brother and he is responding and has begun to produce such precious fruit that he is a true joy to all who are getting to know him, he is also the first on to arrive at all of our services. The other day he found some Spaniards that spoke some Chinese and promptly preached the Gospel to them: it turns out that they were Jehovah’s Witnesses and he was disappointed that they did not believe his message. He is also shining his light in the very closed and separatist Chinese community here in Cáceres.

Our Presbytery of The 12

This new congregation is now just under one and a half years old and we praise God that we feel that we were able to successfully reach our goal to begin the establishment of the government of the 12 by the end of the Summer 2006. The selecting of our disciples is such a solemn process that requires much time, prayer and quality decisions to decide who will be the men and women that Gina and I will dedicate the majority of our quality time in discipleship and leadership development. But these disciples will be the foundational leadership keys to effectively bring to pass what we believe to be the four basic purposes of the Body of Christ: That is to win souls to Christ (Conversion), consolidate them firmly in the faith (Consolidation), to disciple them (Discipleship) and then to commission them (Commission). It’s what we call C.C.D.C..

Our next goal is to have our fundamental 12 discipled to the point to where they can be commissioned to begin to lead there own evangelistic cells within the next six months. Thus we will begin the process of efficiently multiplying our potential for reaching the lost for Christ here.

First of all, we want to thank all of you who keep us faithfully in your prayers. May God bless you exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us all.

Church Planting Progress

Years ago I learned that a true leader is not necessarily someone that can do the work of seven men (even though a leader must be a tireless worker), rather a leader is someone who can inspire seven men to do the work! Here in Cáceres, the Lord is blessing us tremendously and the church is growing and maturing slowly but surely. I would like to believe that I am wise enough to know that I can’t do it all by myself. So we are taking step by step progress in the transitioning our church body to a government of the 12, cell church model. We want neither to run ahead of our church’s ability to grow, adjust and mature nor lag behind what the Holy Spirit wants to do here.

Gina and I have our eyes on those men and women who we want to call into our inner circle of discipleship and within the next three months we should have our 12 chosen and called apart to spend quality time with us. Naturally, our goal is to sow our spiritual DNA in their lives so they might have the same passion, vision and burden for the vineyard of the Lord as we do thus multiplying our ability to minister effectively to all those Christ is bringing our way. Those who we have in our sight as our 12 already understand our great need to be able to consolidate all those that God is bringing our way.

Our congregation has people from at least a dozen different countries: Spaniards, Latin Americans, Africans and other Europeans. Please pray with us that God will give us wisdom as to how to walk through the unique socio-cultural challenges with which we are presented with in this city and the people with whom we work. The statistics show that 1 out of every 3 in our region is an immigrant. Some of these people are here just to follow the money and happen to get saved along the way, but it’s difficult to nail them down and disciple them. It’s like planting a church in an area heavily populated by military personnel. (Worse that a rabbit spotted by a hawk: you know; hare today - gone tomorrow… Sorry, I couldn’t resist :^)

Anyway... God is bringing so many new people our way that if we don’t keep right on the Holy Spirit’s heels in progressing the work we fear the horrible prospect of having many souls slip from our grasps. It is as when Jesus first called Peter and the others (Luke 5:4-7). Before they were discipled there was a miraculous catch, but many fish escaped, for the nets were not capable of holding them. Yet after three years of discipleship they had another miraculous catch and yet the nets did not break! (John 21:4-11) The process of the consolidation of all of these precious souls is absolutely indispensable, but we cannot effectively consolidate them if I do not, first establish my 12 principal disciples.

We are living days in Spain that we have never been seen before with God give great grace and favour to us in the eyes of the general population. The people are actually very glad to see us are now greeting us on the streets with warmth, love and respect. Gina and the young people in missionary training have so won the hearts of many in our community that many doors of ministry have been opened for us making it real easy to share the love of God with others.

Several of the other young Believers that are fast becoming totally one with us are also winning much favour, love and respect from many in the community and are making me proud to be their pastor for the people have nothing but the highest accolades for them because of their fine Christian testimony. You might say, “Well that’s normal.” Say, I’ve been on the field long enough to remember when a good Christian testimony would get you beat up… at best!

Other News

God has just opened up a tremendous opportunity to impact this community with the Gospel and a Christian witness! We’ve been praying, not only for our own financial situations, butt for God to generate worthy and stable employment for the members of our congregation. For we believe that God wants them to prosper as their soul prospers (I John 1:2). Well quite unexpectedly God has made Gina a franchise business associate in Mexican restaurant chain! The very successful franchise owners approached her about becoming a full business associate about 15 days ago. Mexican food is real exotic here in Europe and very expensive. These are the same people that started “El Pollo Loco” in Mexico many years ago. This news has been greeted with outrageous praise because Gina’s cooking is exotic even in Mexico. I always say that her cooking is so good that it can make unbelievers get saved, shout hallelujah and speak in tongues. You will be able to find out more about Gina’s new restaurant on our website.

Saturday, July 8th, we are joining forces with the other two Evangelical Christian congregations of Cáceres and Believers from the neighboring province of Badajoz (Pronounced Ba-da-hoth). The churches of Badajoz are sending an all children’s choir to sing in one of our main downtown plazas. City hall has permitted to set up tables-booths to minister to people publicly, pass out literature and minister to children and all who approach. So we will be joining with all of the Believers of our beautiful city to evangelize the lost. Please pray that this and all of our evangelistic efforts bring forth fruit for eternal life.

Dear Prayer Partners,

May the Peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always!

Church Planting Progress

Gina and I have been kept busy the last few months working especially hard to develop our new church into a mature body of Believers. Slowly but surely they are learning how to develop into servants that are useful for every good work.

The first Sunday of May will mark the first year anniversary for this new congregation. We began to minister here in Cáceres around March of 2005, but actually opened our present location and began our meetings as the officially registered “Iglesia Evangelica Nuevo Amanecer” (New Morning Evangelical Church).

I have never been deeply impressed with large crowds in churches, for they can be very misleading as to the true measure of the level of commitment of the individual Believer. Nor am I deeply impressed with much of what people call “decisions” for Christ. Of course all of this is pending on the amount and quality of personal consolidation and discipleship given to every individual.

When we speak of an average of 80 people attending our Sunday morning services or having first time visitors almost every single Sunday, it might sound like no big deal in the States where you have the blessing of having such a rich Christian history and so much Gospel that it is common to have churches of 300 or 400 members. Whereas in other countries, like Spain for instance it’s a genuine miracle!

So, even though we in our new work fluctuate between 80 and 100 in attendance every Sunday and could say, “For Spain, this is incredible!” I’m not impressed until we can effectively consolidate every one of these that are coming and going and find out if they can be discipled to become useful servants of God in the advance of His kingdom here in Europe and throughout the world.

And so it is that at our one year anniversary we can say that we are beginning to take our very first baby steps. We praise God for what has been accomplished, but there is yet so much to do before we can begin to honestly confess some level of maturity and true spiritual growth in the work. To this end Gina and I and those in missionary discipleship have wholly given ourselves. We are patiently building, line upon line, precept upon precept; teaching, organizing and above all building strong relationships with these precious new souls. ç

The Ministry Center

I am absolutely terrible with photos and cameras, but I broke down and asked Varian, one of the young missionary trainees, to go with us and take photos of the present stage of development of the Ministry Center. (Please find these photos attached to this newsletter. In the photos the Ministry Center is the section of the construction that doesn’t yet have the exterior wall erected.)

We’ve put two townhouses together to for the Ministry Center. They are located in a really nice, totally new section of the city that is being developed. The entire area is being urbanized with parks and green areas. From the looks of the pace of construction of the building itself, the streets and everything else around we don’t this that we will actually be able to move in until at least January or February of 2007. At that time we will also have to come up with about $30,000 per townhouse for closing costs.

Once again, to answer the question of what exactly the Ministry Center is: It will be our much needed ministry headquarters supplying the housing needs of the missionary discipleship training team, office spaces, guest rooms (for the many visitors and ministry teams that come this way), personal living quarters for Gina and I as well as several other necessary details and needs.

Other News

Gina and I were privileged to be invited back to minister in Okinawa, Japan, and to accompany and support our dear friends and fellow missionary-pastors James and Gloria Whittaker. Brother and Sister Whittaker celebrated 25 years of ministry in Okinawa, Japan. Several other pastors and ministers came from all of Japan and other parts of the world as Bishop Frank L. Stewart, of “Zoe Christian Fellowship of Los Angeles”, ordained Pastor Whittaker as a bishop over works in Japan, the Philippines, India and other countries where our beloved brother labors for our Lord. We praise God for we were blest to be able to minister and our minister was also greatly enjoyed by the precious body of believer there. While in Japan, the worship leader of the event, Rev. Jeff Booth, blessed our church when bought and sent to us a fantastic electric keyboard (piano) for our worship team!

Family News

On our way back from Japan, we stopped in Washington to spend some quality time with our daughter Jasmine who had just given birth to her second child: an 8lb. 8oz. beautiful baby boy named Jeremiah. I told her and her husband that they could remain in the gene pool and have more kids because the make beautiful babies! The awesome thing is that little Jeremiah looks exactly like my son Jason when he was one or two months old. Placing the photos side by side you can’t tell them apart.

Prince & Gina’s Praise Report from Spain

Dear Prayer Partners,

May the Peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always! Gina and I want to wish you a very belated blessed New Year! We also wanted to give you a summary of our church planting progress in 2005 as we move into 2006.

In The Beginning…

If you’ll allow me to say, the church here began pretty much just like one concept of the creation. Genesis 1:2 says, “And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” Some believe that there was something her before [this present] heaven and earth but that it suffered some kind of horrible catastrophe, was destroyed and recreated.

Well, I don’t know if I believe that, but it still serves to illustrate my point. When we arrived in Cáceres, last year we found an unformed, devastated remnant of what had almost been a church. There were eleven people (only four of them were baptized believers) that had been part of a fairly new work that started out bad and went south from there. The catastrophic damage was so great that news of the scandal here spread far and wide, was constantly in the local newspapers and would make an “R” rated movie that Christians would protest. Pastors and Christian leaders from several denominations from hundreds of kilometers radius gathered continually to see how this breach to the Evangelical testimony in this part of Spain could be repaired. Many of these leaders knew us from years ago and also know we had plans to return to Spain. So they made a formal invitation to see if we would choose to take charge of the the work in Cáceres. We gladly accepted.

Apart from the scandals of crass immorality, abuse and various other unimaginable sins, the church was deeply in debt (20 grand) because of misappropriation of funds. So one of the first things that Gina and I had to do was to take out a loan for the owed amount and pay off all of the church’s debts. We then found and rented a new building, officially changed the name of the church and began anew. The new congregation is paying off that loan as part of the church’s monthly expenses.

Since then, in such a short period of time, God has brought such healing to the land. We were able to break and cancel the curses that had formerly mulled the land and God has opened up great doors of favor and ministry into the lives of hundreds of new contacts. He has brought light to overcome the darkness in many lives and the Spirit of God is moving preciously. Praise God that Gina and I have been able to earn the respect of all of the other Christian leaders in this region of the country and of the community at large sees us in a very favorable and encouragingly positive light.

The congregation has grown rapidly with all new converts and contacts and has become the largest and fastest growing church in this part of the country. Of course this is always good, but it presents it own set of pleasant challenges. We’ve not yet been able to transition the church into the cell church model for we are still just laying basic foundations (in Biblical teachings, convictions and disciplines), but we have about 100 new adults and about 35 children that have begun to come faithfully every Sunday. The challenge is to consolidate and disciple all of these new Believers with just a handful of mature Believers that are still being discipled by me.

Gina was finally able to establish an excellent multilevel Sunday school program that is fundamental but is so good that 4 out of 6 of the other pastors in our province that have been here for years have asked her to help them establish their Sunday school programs. Also, after years of being somewhat inactive in my ministry as a psalmist, I’ve been able to form a worship team that, slowly but surely is learning to flow in the Spirit of true worship and praise. So now the church is also gaining notoriety for our ministry of worship and praise.

Team Ministry & the Ministry Center

We have a small team of missionaries in training for career missionary work serving with us in various aspects of the ministry.

Varian Dean, from Chicago, IL, has set up a school of English classes that we offer as an out reach to the community. He has done a fine job and it is bringing in several people that we probable would not have been able to reach otherwise.
Lucienda Smith, from New Jersey, is working with our youth and some areas of consolidation and outreach. She is also a strong vocalist on our worship.
Stess Cain, from Washington/Idaho, our most recent addition to the team, has brought so much to the table in the way of talent, experience, intelligence and maturity. She is an accomplished violinist and is a tremendous addition to our worship team. Slowly but surely she is taking over our children’s ministry to develop it to its fullest potential for that is her burden and vision.

The three of them are in varying stages of linguistic development, for they’ve had to learn Spanish here on the field, still they have marvelous additions to our labor here. We are praying for more to hear the call to dedicate their entire lives to foreign missions. The Ministry Center

Finally in summary, because of the housing needs of the missionary discipleship training team, office spaces, guest housing (for the may visitors and ministry teams that come this way) and many other needs we’ve begun the construction of our international ministry center headquarters. With your remarkable help and support and the contributions of those that are on the ministry team with us here, we were about to raise all of the initial funds to begin the building of our ministry center.

The actual construction should be finished by December of this year and after government inspections, red tape and other “stuff” that the local government has to do to grant entry approval; they will give us the keys probably around February of 2007… a little over a year from now. However, when they give us the keys we will have to come up with another major payment of about $30,000. We believe God for complete provision between now and then. The ministry center will have ten bedrooms, two kitchens, four complete bathrooms and four half baths or washrooms, two large offices, two garages for sever vehicles and space enough for several cell meetings and other functions to be held simultaneously.

Pray for the stability and increase in strength of the dollar. The total cost of the international ministry center is 540,000 €.

The Biggest Surprise

The Catholic recently approved of the showing of the movie, “Luther” in local theaters here in Spain. Something that would not have happened five years ago! Seemingly as a result I, along with the other two Evangelical pastors in our city, received an invitation to meet with the priest of the wealthiest parish here. He wanted to meet with us in one of our churches. It turns out that he has come to us with an olive branch of peace. He formally asked us forgiveness for having called us heretics and having opposed Evangelical “Protestants” all of these years and said that he now understood that Martin Luther was actually a prophet of God! Since then, the Father Miguel Angel Morán Manzano and I have become good friends. He has told me that he not only wants fellowship with us, but our personal friendship!

He and several of his leaders have already joined us for three very exciting unity prayer meetings. He has a group of about 60 Charismatics in his parish and he has invited us (the three Evangelical churches) to have a unity worship/prayer service at his parish. All of the pastors have agreed that I should officiate the service. So alone with elements of our worship group, I’ve invited three or four Catholics and two from each of the other Evangelical churches to form one worship team for that special service.

In the more than 25 years that I have ministered in predominantly Catholic countries, I have never had this happen… nor have any of the other pastors here! Father Miguel Angel’s friendship makes ministry for us here so much easier. We would MUCH rather have the Catholics as friends than as an opposition. For their opposition, quite frankly, can get very hideous! Believe me!
